Revolutionary Safety Device

Developed for Roofers
A ground-breaking kit which will take the roofing industry to new heights of safety and efficiency is being launched in London by Yorkshire company Ploughcroft today.

The Roof Anchor is the brainchild of Ploughcroft Managing Director Chris Hopkins and is tested to BS EN 795 standards. It will be unveiled at the Eco Build Expo which is being held between March 5-7 at London’s ExCel. Eco Build is the largest showcase of sustainable construction products of its kind exhibiting the latest developments and most innovative products.

Chris said: “I’ve been a roofer for over 20 years and I can honestly say The Roof Anchor is a first for the industry. I designed it because I was frustrated at the amount of time and money roofing companies have to spend putting up scaffolding on short duration works; I knew that there must be a safe alternative to this for many of the jobs that we do.

“Hence, The Roof Anchor, an amazing safety device which negates the need for scaffold in some instances, thus saving costs and time whilst still ensuring safety and without compromising the integrity of the roof surface. It also has universal fitting, no matter what type of roof it is, The Roof Anchor will fit.”

The equipment is easy to carry, fitting neatly into a backpack. It comprises a harness plus rope grab and roof anchor device that attaches to timber rafters or trusses.

The Roof Anchor is the latest innovation from Chris who is passionate about finding ways of introducing new, revolutionary practises to the roofing and construction industry. He was the first roofer in the UK to achieve MCS Accreditation and was also chosen by the Government to represent all SME businesses in the UK on the Green Construction Board in 2011-2014. He also holds the accredited Roofing Assessor Award allowing him to teach students to NVQ Level 3.

The Roof Anchor is introduced by Chris’s company, Ploughcroft, which is based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, and serves customers across Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire. Their team has over 20 years’ building and roofing experience and is committed to green and environmental issues.
