FIVE-star homebuilder, David Wilson Homes South Midlands, has recruited a new graduate from Cambridge to join the company’s Accelerated Sales Programme, which is running for the first time this year.
A top apprentice employer, David Wilson Homes is part of the nation’s largest Housebuilder, Barratt Developments, which has pledged to take on 1,100 apprentices, graduates and trainees over the next three years, in addition to the 600 trainees already recruited since February 2013.
Matimu Manyike (24), from Cambridge, applied for the new Accelerated Sales Programme at David Wilson Homes South Midlands after graduating from Hull University with a degree in Economics, and is now working at the Summers Field development in Papworth Everard.
He said, “I studied Economics at University and I have always had a keen interest in the property market. House sales are directly related to economic changes and with the pick-up in the property industry, building has launched into a new and dynamic phase, which is something I really want to be a part of.
“David Wilson Homes has a great reputation and I wanted to learn from the best so I decided to apply for their Accelerated Sales Programme. I loved the idea of being in an industry where I had the opportunity to work with a huge variety of people, from customers to tradesmen, and in the Sales department, it feels like we are at the very front line of what the company does.”
The Accelerated Sales Programme is a one year scheme for Sales Advisers, aimed at ambitious candidates of graduate calibre who are ready to fast track their careers in a vibrant and growing industry.
Matimu continued, “There is a great satisfaction which comes from seeing someone go through the purchasing process from start to finish, first searching for their new home, then buying it, moving in and finally building a family there.
“I’m now halfway through the Programme, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it; it’s been everything I expected, and more, and I’m really looking forward to continuing my career within the company.”
