East Village named ‘Development of the Year’ at 2014 RESI awards

Development on the Olympic Park

East Village, London’s newest neighbourhood, located at the former Athletes’ Village adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford took home gold last night after being named ‘Development of the Year’ at the prestigious RESI Awards.

East Village beat stiff competition from a distinguished shortlist of finalists due to its integration of private and affordable housing from both Triathlon Homes and newly established Get Living London.  The win acknowledges the development’s excellence and the significant contribution it has made to new and future residents of London, with East Village offering a mixed tenure and range of high quality homes, 25 acres of parklands and open spaces, a state of the art education campus, health centre and community facilities.  Its innovative and sustainable design as well as the benefits from its unique location on the doorstep of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has helped it to bring a special glow to this part of east London.

The RESI Awards, now in its third year, highlights companies that take an innovative approach to housing provision.  The awards were presented at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, in front of an audience of the industry’s leading figures on Wednesday night.  Delancey founder and CEO, Jamie Ritblat, celebrated scooping the prestigious ‘Personality of the Year’ award on the same night.  Delancey is one half of the joint venture that owns Get Living London with the Qatari Diar Real Estate Development Company.

Delivering 2,818 new homes for Londoners, East Village offers both private rental homes with Get Living London and affordable housing through Triathlon Homes.  Both private and affordable tenure are integrated on an unprecedented scale, raising the bar for modern residential development and creating a real mixed community. Offering a range of homes to suit everyone, from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom townhouses, the neighbourhood is set among 25 acres of parklands and open space with a new school, health centre and community facilities. Today, it has established itself as a vital component in the regeneration of east London and a key driver of the capital’s continued Olympic legacy.

Derek Gorman, Chief Executive of Get Living London, said: “From Athletes’ Village to new homes for Londoners – East Village is the first of its kind and we are delighted to be named ‘Development of the Year’ as well as ‘Property Newcomer of the Year’ at this year’s prestigious RESI Awards.
