Designer Contracts continues to expand rapidly

In London and the South East

Rapidly expanding, Designer Contracts, Britain’s largest floorcovering contractors to the new-build industry, has opened a third local regional office to cater for increased demand from London and the south east.

The new 10,000 sq ft unit in Biggin Hill is in addition to the company’s offices in Brentwood, Essex and the recently opened facility in Slough. It brings the total number of Designer Contracts regional offices across the UK to 12.
Designer Contracts’ managing director Peter Kelsey said: “The Biggin Hill facility will allow us to cater for the increased demand from the south east and London. We will be able to provide an increased level of service to our existing client base, while increasing our market share in a very significant geographical area.”

The new Thames Medway offices are overseen by regional controller, John Kilmartin. Along with newly appointed Biggin Hill contracts manager Debbie Bristow and sales manager Adam Baker, John will drive business at the new facility forward.

Said John: “There is no doubt that the Biggin Hill property will increase the company’s profile within the region, where businesses are looking for opportunities to reduce spend without compromising on quality.”

The new Biggin Hill facility is indicative of the company’s recent financial successes, which saw a 25% increase in turnover to £21.5 million for the 12 months to the end of October in 2011 compared to the same period in the previous year.

As well as the expansion in the south east, the last 18 months has seen Designer Contracts relocate and expand its Scottish and North East divisions. The company has also acquired the contracts division of Cornwall-based Premier Carpets and expanded its head office.
The business has also increased its interior design services, which work with national and regional house builders to create memorable showhomes with often limited budgets.

Overall Designer Contracts now employs over 150 people. In addition to floorcoverings, it offers furniture, lighting, custom-made curtain and blind packages to new home developers, and has seen substantial growth in sales in these areas too.
