Bellway creates 30 jobs across East Midlands as new homes sales increase

30 new jobs have been created across Bellway’s East Midlands region

30 new jobs have been created across Bellway’s East Midlands region thanks to an upturn in the new homes market.

Bellway now employs 100 staff from its regional headquarters at the Meridian Business Park in Leicester, compared with 70 at the same time last year.

This is in addition to hundreds of contractors’ jobs which have been created or safeguarded at developments across the region.

Bellway’s new recruits range from sales advisors and site managers to administrative staff and construction and technical workers.

Sales Director for Bellway East Midlands, Ben Smith, said: “It’s always great news to be creating jobs and we’re delighted to have found some really talented people. The market has really turned a corner over the last year or so and the demand for new homes in particular continues to grow. The latest research by the NHBC has highlighted the reasons for this – people are opting for low-maintenance homes which cost significantly less to maintain.”

The NHBC is the watchdog for the house-building industry. Its National New Homes Survey for 2014 demonstrates why new homes are so popular.

The survey says homeowners can save as much as £1,400 on annual energy bills for a four-bedroom house by buying new. There are fewer carbon emissions from new homes and satisfaction levels among buyers are high.

The survey found 92% of buyers had not reported any problems with their home since moving in – and 94% would buy a new home again.

Ben Smith said: “At Bellway we are committed to the highest standards in quality and customer care. With rising demand for our homes it is vital that we have sufficient staff to ensure we can deliver this.

“Help to Buy continues to drive additional demand. This is all good news and it creates truly exciting career opportunities. We now have more than 20 live developments and we recently appointed a third sales manager for the division.”

With Help to Buy you can purchase a new home with a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage. The remaining 20% is provided by the Government which is interest-free for five years.

Earlier this month it was announced that weekly reservations across Bellway’s operating area were up 11% on 2013.

Bellway is currently building at sites across Leicestershire and Rutland including The Greens in Hinckley, Whittle Fields in Lutterworth, The Paddocks in Desford, Citrus in Kegworth, Glaze in Lount, Huntsman Drive in Oakham and The Maltings in Barleythorpe.
