With the growing success of its thinner leading edge products, pioneering roofing manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has invested in a new product Bute. Sales of thinner leading edge have doubled over the past three years and now account for over 30 per cent of Russell’s tile sales.
Bute forms part of Russell’s new Natural Range – an expanding selection of concrete tiles that have the appearance of slate, clay and stone. These high tech tiles are manmade versions of tiles that match the indigenous look of the most widely used roof tiles across the UK.
The Natural Range now features five thinner leading edge tiles – this developing collection has been completely refigured to meet huge market growth.
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director of Russell Roof Tiles “Not only do thinner leading edge tiles closely match the appearance of natural plain tiles they also have a significant saving against clay, slate or stone. The other major benefits away from the cost is the speed the roof can be fitted in nearly half the time the plain tiles would take, thus ultimately saving money for both contractor and developer.”
Bute’s double tile format has a mock joint and gives the appearance of small slates or tiles, when laid broken bonded. It is available in 11 carefully selected colours. Due to demand from the market Bute has also been created with two options with either a 145mm or 165mm head lap.
Like all of the firm’s thinner leading edge range, Bute is manufactured using 15 per cent less raw materials than a standard flat interlocking tile. So that also means they’re a “greener” choice are delivered to site in fewer batches and also create less packaging.
A number of major projects are already featuring Russel’s Bute – in the South East, Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey as well as a new site in Wiltshire. All of these sites planning needed a small format look and the developer selected the Bute as it gave the right aesthetics to achieve planning approval whilst giving a commercial benefit to the build costs.
