Funky affordable homes boost for first time buyers from £50,000*

Urban Splash unveils shared ownership option on iconic buildings across the country

First time buyers across the country are being offered a welcome boost by award winning regeneration company Urban Splash as it launches a range of ‘Funky & Affordable’ shared ownership properties.

Nicola Wallis, Director of residential sales at Urban Splash, said: “At Urban Splash we have a reputation for regenerating buildings and creating great spaces and communities for people to live.  We are delighted to be able to offer our homes through affordable options for our customers which will help to remove some of the barriers of buying a first home. Many lenders require a smaller deposit of between just 5%-10% for mortgages on shared ownership, which offers an affordable option for those struggling to save a larger deposit for an outright sale.”

Urban Splash is offering first time buyers the opportunity to buy apartments through shared ownership in cities and towns across the country including Leeds, Manchester, Stalybridge, Bristol and Plymouth.

Potential buyers will have the opportunity to buy an apartment in an Urban Splash development from just £50,000 for a 50 per cent share. Shared ownership buyers then have the option to ‘staircase’ by adding to their share as their financial situation improves.

Wallis said: “Despite all the negative headlines about buying property, there are options available. The apartments on offer are very high specification, design led developments in desirable locations across the country and we feel that it is only right that everyone has the chance to buy. We’re confident that our shared ownership properties will prove to be very popular.”

If customers are not quite ready to purchase due to the lack of deposit, there is also a rental option available which will help first time buyers save for their deposit.

Urban Splash is working with the Homes and Communities Agency to provide a total of 323 units across the country on shared ownership schemes.

The developments include Saxton, one and two bedroom apartments with bright open plan living spaces and full height glazing, offering fantastic views over Leeds. Saxton has six and a half acres of private residents gardens, wildflower meadow, an orchard and allotments for residents to grow their own veg!

Chips, in Urban Splash’s home city of Manchester, is one of the most significant buildings in the city’s New Islington area.  Designed by Will Alsop, Chips overlooks the canals and has a variety of different apartment types to suit different living needs. 3Towers also in Manchester are named after the Pankhurst family; Emmeline, Christabel and Sylvia are spacious apartments with floor to ceiling windows and great views overlooking Manchester city centre or the green and leafy Irk Valley, just a ten minute walk from the popular Northern Quarter.

Situated on the coastline of Devon, the breathtaking Royal William Yard in Plymouth is a collection of Grade I and II Listed buildings overlooking a new marina, with a number of restaurants, a gallery and a naval visitor centre adding to the value of the Yard as a great destination. One and two bedroom apartments in Mills Bakery are packed with original features and beautiful architecture.

Urban Splash is also re-working the Grade II Listed Lakeshore in Bristol, a unique development of eco homes sitting over its own lake, offering studio, one and two bedroom apartments.  The lake will be surrounded with 10 acres of landscaped spaces for residents to spend their time, including allotments, BBQ areas, an outdoor gym, nature trails and a boules/games area!

Longlands in Stalybridge is perfect for those who love the outdoors with the beautiful countryside that the Peak District has to offer right on the doorstep.  A beautiful new build, sits alongside the original mill and offers one and two bedroom duplex apartments, all with balconies which combine city living with countryside views.
